At the period of imprisonment or parole conditions or medical treatments on bail, if there’s any protection required, the local rehabilitation protection association may provide appropriate protection and guidance to help them adapt to the community. The protection may be applied by the rehabilitees themselves for personal needs. The rehabilitation protection divides into the following three Categories:

• Direct protection

Includes refuge and skill training. “Refuge” means. Temporarily sheltering the rehabilitees in the counseling center founded by the rehabilitation protection association providing the basic needs. “skill training “refers to the rehabilitates those in need of protection, giving them a referral to the public training center or the short-term training center held by the agencies.

• Indirect protection

 Includes visiting the rehabilitees and guiding them back to normal life.

• Temporary protection

Includes financially helping them with travel expenses, homestay expenses, medical expenses, household registration expenses, escorting the rehabilitates back home, returning home or going to other places or small loans etc. The rehabilitation protection can be applied to the Taiwan rehabilitation protection association located at the Taiwan high prosecutor’s office or the regional branches of the district prosecutor’s office. The protection can be applied by the rehabilitees themselves or through the introduction of the rehabilitation counselors in various places for their individual needs. The identity of the rehabilitee and other required documents should be during the application. The receiving agency will review the situation and the needs of the rehabilitee before deciding.
